What a wonderful jewelry gift the ASTERISMOS handmade necklace for the woman who loves the zodiac and/or astrology or is a constellation gazer. The one of a kind necklace features a patinated Mykonos zodiac pendant, genuine turquoise tubes, brown baroque pearls and copper. The unique pendant was made on the Greek island of Mykonos from a lead free base metal with a thick copper coating. It features a domed sun and crescent moon in the middle of the pendant with the twelve signs of the zodiac around the outer edge. For a timeless, aged feel, a turquoise green patina was added and then lightly polished to bring out the copper glow of the sun and moon. The back side of the pendant is concave in the middle and is also patinated.
Perfectly complementing the zodiac pendant are genuine turquoise tubes and brown freshwater pearls. The gorgeous turquoise is a mixture of green and blue, most with a natural dark matrix. They are in groups of three separated by a single tube, freshwater pearls and small copper beads. The freshwater pearls are called “baroque pearls” because of their irregular, non-spherical shape - each one is different. They have an amazing gleam when the light hits at the right angle. A textured copper toggle clasp set finishes the wonderful necklace. Carefully designed and handmade by Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs, the ASTERISMOS pendant necklace is a lovely gift for the woman who loves the zodiac and one of a kind artisan jewelry! “Asterismos” is Greek for “to arrange in a constellation.”

The signs of the zodiac represent the twelve constellations the sun passes through: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces; in astrology, some people believe that a person’s personality can be predicted using their sign of the zodiac. Turquoise, a gemstone that is sacred to the Navajo, Zuni and other Native American tribes, is a stone of wholeness, promoting a sense of unity with all that surrounds us. Pearls are used to spread loving vibrations; they promote sincerity, truth and loyalty. Copper is said to allow the wearer to recognize barriers in the path of personal development.
The ASTERISMOS artisan zodiac necklace was carefully designed and handmade in a dog friendly, smoke free studio. The necklace will come with two informational drop tags: one with the piece's name; the other lists the materials used in the necklace and the language of the stones and metals.
