If you love wearing Christian cross jewelry with plenty of eye-catching sparkle, the richly colored CRUCES handmade earrings are for you! Petite and very lightweight, the beauties feature vintage intaglio crystal cross drops and Swarovski crystals. The amethyst purple intaglio crosses were created in Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic) in the 1950’s and are a rare find. Intaglio refers to a design engraved into a material; in this case a single cross hand engraved into each octagon-shaped German crystal. The crosses were hand gilded with gold to make them pop against the rich purple of the glass. A color-shifting pink rose AB Swarovski crystal rhinestone sits above each cross. It has an aurora borealis coating so, as you can see in the photos, the colors shift dramatically! The crystals are set in brass findings. The back of each crystal dangle is smooth brass. Since the earrings are tiny, they will also be a wonderful gift for a tween or teen.
To add even more sparkle to the overall design, a single faceted Swarovski crystal bicone was added to each sterling silver French hook earwire. The color is also a right purple amethyst. Carefully designed and handmade by Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs, the CRUCES earrings are a perfect gift for the woman who loves to wear unique artisan cross jewelry on the smaller side created with vintage pieces! “Cruces” is Spanish for “crosses.”
