Being a handmade artist myself, I have always loved this quote:
You can't buy LOVE, but you can buy HANDMADE . . . and that's kind of the same thing.
Handmade artists put a great amount of heart and soul and love into their pieces. So, in my humble opinion, you ARE buying love. The celebration of the return of spring and Easter brings the promise that everything can begin again, of letting go of the old and embracing something new, of renewal of the self and of the earth, and of faith. Just think of everything associated with spring and Easter: promise, resurrection, birth, new love, romance, nesting birds, butterflies, daffodils, tulips, peach blossoms and so many other cheerful flowers.

Due to my mother's side of the family, quite a lot of Scots-Irish blood flows through my veins, being a MacLellan and an O'Birney. I grew up listening to old Irish ballads by John McCormack and others and also to Scottish bagpipe music. I thrilled to the legends of Brian Boru, the Fenian Cycle and others - and also to the lifes of Irish saints (although those weren't quite as exciting). When St. Patrick's Day rolls around, I find myself going though my CDs of Irish folk songs, popping one into my computer and singing along (probably much to the chagrin of Seamus - am surprised he doesn't howl along!). In honor of the upcoming St. Patrick's Day, I also wanted to share handmade items from talented artist friends that use green as all or part if the design.
Terrific Turquoise - Wonderful Handmade Wednesday on Indiemade

Since I live in the Desert Southwest, turquoise is a definite favorite of people, both the gemstone itself and the color. Turquoise is a shade of blue that lies on the color scale between blue and green. It has psychological characteristics associated with both of those colors: the calmness of blue and the growth that is represented in green. Turquoise is said to be a color that balances blue, green and yellow, linking it to emotional balance. It is a color promotes a feeling of serenity and stability. I don’t know about you, but whenever I work with turquoise, I do feel a great sense of peace and calmness.

First of all, I want to wish everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous NEW YEAR. It’s hard to believe that 2018 is already here. Wow, it seems like 2017 just flew by on supersonic wings . . .
